When using public transportation to reach Hinoemata Village, the nearest train station is Aizu-Tajima Station. From there, take an Aizu Bus and you‘ll arrive in Miike Mountain Pass where trekking start point in about 2 hours. (if you want to go Hinoemata tourist information center will take 1.5 hours.) In this guide, we’ll introduce a route to Ozenuma using public transportation, starting from Asakusa Station in Tokyo.
We recommend to buy TOBU Limited Express in advance.

It’s an early start, but departing at this time allows you to begin your trek by midday. At Asakusa Station, you’ll need to purchase a ticket for the Limited Express “Liberty Aizu” train. Tickets can be easily bought at vending machines, and the train will take you to Aizu-Tajima Station, where you’ll transfer to a bus. If you reserved your ticket in advance, don’t forget that you’ll still need to collect the physical ticket on the day of travel. Please check Tobu Railway’s passenger guide for details.

Upon arriving at Aizu-Tajima Station, we recommend purchasing a boxed lunch for the trip ahead at the “Aizu Tajima Station Shop Yamabiko.”The next bus ride will take about 1.5 hours. Since there are no restrooms or Wi-Fi on the bus, please prepare accordingly.
Please note that transportation IC cards can be used.

You will arrive at Numayama Pass, where your trekking begins. Exploring the magnificent nature of Oze is truly refreshing. Along the way, feel free to enjoy the boxed lunch you purchased and take in the journey to Ozenuma at your own pace.
Please note that the walk between Ozenuma and Numayama Pass takes just over one hour under normal conditions, so be sure to plan your return time accordingly.

Oze National Park, accessible from Hinoemata Village, is recognized as a symbol of nature conservation in Japan. Visitors are expected to follow proper etiquette and guidelines.

IMPORTANT : Mountain huts & Public toilets are closed between November and mid May.

As planned, you will arrive at Ozenuma after just over 1.5 hours. Enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings. This time, you will be staying at a mountain hut, but if you are staying at a campground or inn within the village, be sure to know the return bus schedule. Buses from Numayama Pass to Miike run approximately every 30 to 40 minutes. Please note that the last bus from Miike to the village departs at 5:30 PM. Campgrounds typically require check-in between 2:00 PM and around 5:00 PM, while Minshuku (Family-inns) usually have check-in by about 5:00 PM. Especially at Minshuku (Family-inns), dinner time (usually around 6:00 PM) is fixed, so please be punctual. We recommend checking your accommodation’s check-in and dinner times in advance.

Check-in at Ozenuma Hut is available from 1:00 PM, so we spent a relaxing time on the wooden terrace. You can fully enjoy bathing, meals, and various activities while immersing yourself in the great outdoors and local culture. Most huts offer Wi-Fi, and some mobile carriers have signal coverage around Oze National park.

After enjoying a breakfast featuring local specialties and watching the sunrise, we began our journey home. We browsed souvenirs and visited sightseeing spots at the roadside station within Hinoemata Village.
