When people think of Hinoemata Village, most likely come for hiking in Oze National Park, including destinations like Ozenuma Pond and Mt. Hiuchigatake—both considered among Japanʼs top 100 mountains. However, for those staying in local inns, guesthouses, or campgrounds without planning a long stay or staying overnight in mountain huts, there are also must-see sightseeing spots within the village that shouldn't be overlooked.

Mountain travel guide office

A must-stop tourist information center. It offers brochures in English provides up-to-date information on Oze and local hiking routes. Inside, there are permanent exhibits where you can learn about the village’s nature and culture. The staff are ready to assist with hiking plans and transportation options in a friendly and thorough manner. By gathering the latest information and basic knowledge here, your travel experience will become even more enriching and meaningful.

History and Folklore Museum

The first floor introduces the history of the village through costumes and photos of Hinoemata Kabuki. At the second-floor features exhibits of everyday tools, as well as forestry and fishing equipment. This indoor spot is perfect even on rainy days, offering insight into the lives of Yamodo(mountain people) through tools that were actually used.

Hinoemata Kabuki Tradition Museum

Hinoemata Kabuki Tradition Museum was established both to help people gain a deeper understanding of Hinoemata Kabuki and to preserve valuable materials. Its name comes from the Chibano-ya Hanakomaza, the troupe that has inherited and carried on the Hinoemata Kabuki tradition.

Recreated park designed to let visitors easily experience the atmosphere of Oze's famous wetlands.
OZE Photo museum, Oze Calligraphy Museum, Dr. Hisayoshi Takeda Memorial Museum and Cafe where salamander gelato is available.

Many of activities you can enjoy within the village.

A miniature wetland perfect for those who want to experience the atmosphere of Oze but are short on time. Featuring wooden boardwalks and small ponds, the park is barrier-free and offers free wheelchair rentals. It also houses the Oze Photography Museum, the Oze Calligraphy Museum, and a gift shop & cafe, making it an ideal spot for a half-day visit.
The museums mentioned earlier are located within this Mini Oze Park, allowing you to get a true feel of Oze.
The Takeda Hisayoshi Memorial Hall is aloso located within the Mini-Oze park. He is the son of U.K. diplomat and Dr., a botanist and conservationist who devoted his life to protecting Oze.

Hinoemata Fish Garden – Fishing Pond

A fishing pond fed by fresh mountain stream water, stocked with iwana (Japanese char).
Rod rentals are available, so you can enjoy fishing even without bringing any gear.
You can have your catch grilled with salt and taste it on the spot.
Bringing your own gear is also allowed, making it fun for everyone from beginners to experienced anglers.

Oze-Hinoemata-Onsen Ski resort for the limited period

This advanced-level ski resort typically opens for the season around the third week of December, once there is sufficient snowfall.
Please note that trekking within Oze National Park is closed during the winter season, so this ski area is especially recommended for those who wish to enjoy skiing along with hot springs and staying at local inns.
